Appearance is compulsory
The French visa office doesn’t accept anymore
any visa application by mail or by carrier for any
regular short or long stay visas.
All regular
visas will need to be applied for in person at the
visa office in Washington DC.
This includes :
- Employees of international organisation applying
with a regular passport
Holders of G4 & H1B visas on regular passports
- Employees of embassies and foreign missions in
the US holders of a regular passport.
- All concerned applicants need
to make an appointment online on the French embassy
website to come at the visa office.
Exclusions : Diplomatic
and Official (official, service or special) passport
holders stay excluded of this requirement. Their
application package can still be dropped off at
the embassy (minimum time process : 4 to 5 business
days, and up to 2 months, depending on the nationality)
OFFICIAL or DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT
HOLDERS ONLY
- Valid and signed U. S. Official
or Diplomatic Passport (valid for at least 6 months
past the end date of your stay in France; with
at least one blank visa page)
- Two (2) Visa Application Form

- Visa Cover Letter from U.S. Department
of State
- Letter from sending department
or agency, addressed to:
"Embassy of (the country you are planing
to visit),
Visa Section, Washington D.C."
The letter must explain all of the following:
Applicant's position and title
The purpose of the trip
Dates of the intended visit
Contact person in the country you are planing
to visit
Service Fee:
$85.00/person/visa (Rush Process - 7 business days)
Consular Fee:
Gratis - for official or
diplomatic passport

may extend the processing time at their discretion
(Additional documents and an interview may be requested)

we do not recommend sending your passport by regular
mail. Please send it by courier delivery so that
if there’s a delay, you would be able to track
or trace it.
Requirements and fees are subject to change without
prior notice. All fees are non-refundable if your
application was denied by the consulate or the Passport
Agency, or if you withdraw your application that
has already been submitted to the consulate or Passport
Agency.
